From the moment a person states they are pregnant with a girl or a

boy, that child begins to be socialized. Names are selected with a gender in mind. Girls are placed in pink and purple and boys are in blue or green. Toys are very gendered. Certain behavior is encourage and discouraged. The six major agents of socialization are (1) The Family (2) The Media (3) Peers (4) Religion (5) Sports (6) Schools. Below are several videos that touch upon issues of gender socialization. After watching these videos, discuss the issue of gender socialization. Do you think it is detrimental for individuals to be constrained by these agents of socialization?
