An educator in the toddler room is sitting at the lunch table with six children.

One child is refusing to eat – they shake their head, push the plate away and begin to cry.

 

The educator picks up the child’s spoon and tries to feed the child, the child will not open their mouth. The educator pinches the child’s nose to get the child to open their mouth and shoves the spoonful of food in the child’s mouth.

The child begins to gag and the educator says “don’t you dare spit that out! Swallow it.”
