Socio-economic Conflict at the Workplace

The USA became the industrial world’s giant in the 1870s. How did this development build a new class of wealthy owners and later managers?  How did this development also create a new class of workers and socio-economic conflict at the workplace?  Explain the roles of industries like railroads, mining, iron and steel making, and the automobile industry in the process, 1870 to the 1930s.  How did conflict in these various industries create competing ideas of American freedom?  Where do these conflicts live on today?
