Changing Behaviours: The Dangers of Vaping Despite claims that vaping is better for health than smoking, recently there has been a series of lung injuries and deaths associated with vaping, especially among teens. Like cigarette smoking, vaping exposes users to harmful and addictive chemicals. Purpose: Despite awareness of the negative outcomes associated with vaping, statistics have shown an increase in usage of vaping e-cigarettes among adolescent populations. Using the course materials and research, your goal is to identify the risks of vaping for adolescents. Additionally, you will be tasked with proposing strategies to change attitudes related to vaping and to also encourage healthier behaviours in teens by highlighting the negative effects of vaping. You can think about how vaping behaviour starts, adolescent risky behaviour, and how teens make decisions about whether to engage in this behaviour. Now that you have reflected on the theoretical explanations for vaping, as a health practitioner, how would you develop a campaign that aims to convince teens that vaping is bad and that they should stop (if they are already engaging in it) or not engage at all? How would you change both their attitudes and their behaviour? (11 marks). You can present this in a visual poster with statistics, information, facts or anything else you think is relevant. In your visual, feel free to be creative and include images as well. If you use statistics or images from websites, be sure to cite these sources by providing the URL. Be sure to: a. Explain how attitudes and behaviours are related (for example, how do our feelings towards something impact of our likelihood of engaging in that behaviour and vice versa?)
