Assignment: Capella Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood Development Paper
Assignment: Capella Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood Development Paper
Question Description
Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood
Many helping services maintain webpages or blogs to market their services and educate their customers. Create a blog post, with yourself as an example, to illustrate development in adolescence and emerging adulthood.
PREPARATION
In the Capella library, look for research articles on adolescent and early adult development. The articles should focus on how theories of development explain cognitive and psychosocial development. Find at least two scholarly or professional articles to use in this assignment.
REQUIREMENTS
For this assignment, you will apply developmental theories to your own adolescent and early adult development. Think about how the developmental theories—cognitive, psychosocial, moral, attachment, and ecological—relate to helping you better understand your own development. Think about your life experiences during these stages and how those experiences shaped your development in specific areas. For example, you might consider how certain educational (or other) experiences helped you reach formal operations thinking in your cognitive development. Also think about your identity development and the relationships or experiences in your life that contributed to your sense of identity.
Please note: Since this assessment is asking you about your personal development, it is appropriate to write in the first person. However, you must still follow APA guidelines for references and citations. Also be sure you include a title page and reference page.
Select two specific areas of development on which to focus:
Cognitive.
Psychosocial.
Moral.
Attachment.
Ecological.
In your assignment, be sure you address the following:
Explain what theory informs the areas of development you selected.
Describe at least two life experiences during adolescence and two experiences during early adulthood that were significant in shaping your development in each of the areas you selected.
Apply ideas and concepts from theory to explain your behavior, thoughts, and emotions during adolescence and early adulthood.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
Cancer is a disease that is no respecter of persons. Every gender, race and financial status is affected by cancer, but certain groups are more affected than others. One example is African American women and breast cancer. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is arguably the worst type of breast cancer due to the aggressiveness of the disease and the limited options for successful treatment (American Cancer Society, 2022). African American (AA) women have a higher rate of diagnosis of TNBC and poorer prognosis with worse survival rates than European American women (EA), resulting in AA women having a 65% higher chance of dying from TNBC then EA women (Prakash, 2020). These statistics are both fascinating and saddening. What is the cause of this health disparity in African American women? As an advanced registered nurse, I plan to join the group of researchers and practitioners that are studying the biologic and non-biologic factors that may be contributing to this racial disparity (Prakash, 2020). As with all types of cancer, early detection is key to improving prognosis. The specialty of Public Health nursing is in a strong position to contribute to educating the population on the importance of mammography and self- examination.
Breast cancer is not the only cancer type that has a higher incidence and poorer prognosis in the African American population. Per the National Cancer Institute (2016), “Blacks/African Americans have higher death rates than all other racial/ethnic groups for many, although not all, cancer types.” There are many theories as to what the contributing factors of cancer disparities in this population are, including but not limited to, environmental, socioeconomic status, education levels, access to quality care and screening, and systemic racism.
LopesWrite Policy
For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.
