Context
Stakeholders are not limited to directly involved groups and individuals who benefit directly from the corporation. Often, the entire community is affected by an organization’s actions, or lack of reactions. For example, board members, regulators, and consumers participate in the business process every day. To what extent should they shape or influence ethical behavior in business?Understanding stakeholder needs, as well as threats to the organization, is a key component of the process of managing ethical issues. It is equally important to learn to identify issues and put them in a context or framework, to facilitate management decision making. One of the challenges of marketplace globalization is creating ethical policies and guidelines that monitor how we do business in the global market.

Questions to Consider
To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community.
Workplace privacy is a very contentious issue today, because the growth of technology that might threaten privacy is outpacing the development of privacy laws. New technologies for communication and surveillance are not legally restricted because they are not yet addressed in existing laws. What right to privacy you believe an employee should enjoy at work? What right to surveillance should a company have in watching over the employees it is paying, and the property it owns? Where would you draw the line with regard to workplace privacy?
Think about a real-world example of whistleblowing with which you are personally familiar, or which you have heard about. Why might you feel pressure not to report what you know in the situation, and to what extent would it affect you? What would you do (or did you do) in this situation? Would a code of ethics you are familiar with, such as a military code that requires reporting of unethical behavior, influence your decision?
Analyze an advertisement that was misleading, and did not provide complete and honest information about the product or service. Your example might be from print, television, radio, or the Internet. It might be local, national, or international. How could this deception have been harmful? What action would you recommend to deter this type of deception in the future?

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

The population I would like to continue serving in when I complete my Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in public health is the prison population. I have previously worked at a women’s adult prison, and I am currently serving at a juvenile detention center where both female and male juveniles are housed. First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that before nursing in this field, I was not aware of the medical side of prisons. For years my background had been working with the underprivileged homeless population, however, upon entering this side of nursing I observed many similarities which mirror the homeless. Within the prison setting exist a very vulnerable people group which are at various stages in life. The diverse age groups can often determine various acute or chronic illnesses. Many have experienced years either in the prison system or outside, where their health has been neglected because of drugs, alcohol, trauma, poverty, or mental illness. Incarcerated individuals are more likely to suffer from substance abuse, cognitive disability, communicable and noncommunicable diseases than the general population (McLeod et al., 2020). These factors can ultimately lead to health disparity.
The specialty of the advanced practice nurse in public health can impact health disparity/inequality in a positive way. One of the ways this can be accomplished is through health promotion and disease prevention. In the prison system certain inmates, more specifically the adults, are serving a life sentence while other inmates at the juvenile level are only serving a few years. Education on disease prevention is vital at the juvenile level, most notably with adolescents who have come from underprivileged backgrounds. As the intake nurse with adolescents, I educate on hand washing, sexually transmitted diseases and prevention, immunizations, importance of medication compliance, exercise, and eating. The initiation of programs which promote education, health, and wellness within the adult population could help to prevent comorbidities. According to Healthy People 2020 as cited by DeNisco and Barker (2019), through prioritizing health improvement and strengthening the understanding and public awareness of health, disease, and opportunities for progression health disparities can decline. In this population, it is important as the advanced practice nurse to understand that many of the patients lack an understanding about disease and how to achieve health. Simple education on proper hand washing goes a long way in communal settings. Adolescent immunizations are also an area of health promotion which is emphasized. During the COVID pandemic, it was crucial that the current population with whom I work with were given the opportunity to be vaccinated due to the frustrated efforts and inability to quarantine with lack of space. The Public Health Nurse recognizes the community needs within the population.
Diversity and an understanding of the global perspectives of care provide a greater understanding of health equity as related to this current population within the prison system. Most likely the weight of disease in correctional facilities are universal, however, due to the insufficient epidemiological data on health conditions specifically in low- and middle-income countries determines the extent of prison health services contribution to global health endeavors are unable to be quantified. It is important to invest in the health of the individual and health care of those incarcerated for the sake of human rights, public safety and health, and economic grounds. Understanding the public health capability of health services is dependent on identification of health needs, distribution of quality care, and continuity of care in health services (McLeod et al., 2020).
