ENERGY AND THE HUMAN BODY
All body systems need energy to function. The body fuels cells with the nutrients and gases necessary to function properly. Our body takes in oxygen and circulates it through the bloodstream. Many chemical reactions in the body require cellular energy and need oxygen to drive these reactions. Some of these reactions are used to break down food and metabolize what we eat, which are a part of the digestive system.SHOW LESSAs Tanya ages, her metabolism decreases. The food she eats impacts the energy she needs to function. Not enough food or too much food can also impact her body functions. What can she do to get the proper nutrients but not gain weight? Let us take a closer look at the digestive and respiratory systems to learn about how they function in Tanya’s body and how Tanya gets energy.The body needs energy to live. The digestive and respiratory systems work to provide this energy with nutrients and oxygen. We eat food to provide energy to our cells. The digestive system breaks the food down into smaller macromolecules that the cells can process for energy. In order for the cells to utilize the nutrients, oxygen from the respiratory system is needed. The respiratory system takes in oxygen from the air and helps to expel the carbon dioxide we generate.

In this lab, you will be looking at food labels. Food labels provide important information about the nutrient content of packaged food. You will analyze a food label from your own kitchen and discuss whether the food item is a healthy choice. Try to find a food item you eat often to see whether or not this is a healthy choice.

For this assessment, you will complete a series of responses within the lab, complete an assessment at the end of the lab, and write a brief summary of your conclusion about the lab. To complete this assessment:
Fill out the items requested in the lab.
Complete the assessment at the end of the lab.
Save a pdf of your responses and download it to your computer. You will have an option to download a pdf within the lab.
Write a one-paragraph summary detailing new knowledge acquired in the lab.
Attach both documents when submitting the assessment.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

In health care systems, nurses have various leadership roles that they ought to undertake in their line of duty. Nurses can be found in leadership positions within health care organizations. For example, in a clinical setting, a nurse can become a nurse manager (Saleh, et al 2018). A nurse manager becomes in charge of the department he or she is assigned. A nurse manager ensures that nurses under him conduct themselves as per the guiding lines of the nursing practice. Nurse managers are always responsible for decision-making in their respective departments. The managerial skills of a nurse in charge are beneficial in that they influence, motivate and empower other nurses to perform their duties competently. Nurse leaders’ responsibility is to advocate for the patients and the profession as well. They ensure proper allocation of resources in an organization and promotes a positive environment for the nursing staff (Phillips, et al 2018). The proper allocation of resources is to ensure that all nurses have essential equipment when performing their duties. There is a proper allocation of duties as per nurse qualifications.

Nurse leaders carry out risk assessments and analyses in their departments. They also ensure there is quality delivery of patient care in a health care system. To become a nurse leader, one needs to earn a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree, have a registered nurse license, experience in the field as a registered nurse, and earn a master of science in clinical leadership from an approved program. Many nurses have leadership qualities but it takes a passion for the work, focus, and determination to become a nurse leader. A nurse leader should have good communication skills, management skills, critical thinking skills, and proper decision-making skills. Nurse leaders should be able to communicate well with other staff and professionals and have proper decision-making in different situations.

Late Policy

The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.
