My current understanding and perspective on interprofessional education, I think the med students are responsible about everything, they will diagnose and treats diseases. Describe the medications and read the x-ray. Also, ailments injuries and pain. For the nurse students, they are responsible about the vital signs and provide patient care. perform physical exams and the patient history, administer medications. They are essentially the people who look after the patient pre-and post-surgery and support patients emotionally. The physical therapy students they will improve the movement and function for the patients. Help the people who have medical problems because of accidents or injuries to use their legs or hands again and prevent disability. Occupational therapy students use special equipment to help people with developmental disabilities. They can help them to improve the skills needed for daily living and working. RT student someone who cares for patients that have trouble breathing; for example, a chronic respiratory disease, such as asthma or emphysema. Treat patients by using oxygen therapy, aerosol medications or analyze O2 and CO2 levels. May conduct pulmonary function testing or polysomnography (sleep test). For the physician assistants, the will Conduct physical exams, Diagnose and treat illnesses and Order and interpret tests. Pharmacist responsible about the prescriptions and over the counter medications. The quality of medications and educate or advise the patients more about these drugs. Also Immunize and screenings for acute and chronic conditions. Speech and Language Pathology work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. Also, the help people who have trouble with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication. We started the IPE class a few weeks ago and we worked as a team with different interprofessional education and that was successful, everyone was helpful and we divided the work between us. for example, we had a patient last Friday, we seated on a circle and everyone was responsible about many things, the nurse student asked the patient about her history, family history and the allergies. The RT asked about the trouble breathing and anything related to that. Then we discussed the case with the med student, he diagnosed the patient and described the prescription. The pharmacy student talked more with the patient about the medication how to use it, the dose and the side effects. It was a good experience to know how to work with a group, we were helping everyone and respect others. When you are part of a team, you help your team members perform their jobs the best they can. You add your knowledge about a patient to any treatment decisions. And the most important thing prevents medical errors. Teamwork achieves goals, saves time and a way to exchange experiences and knowledge.
