The exclusionary rule was created by judges, through case law, to prevent police misconduct. It prohibits the use of evidence obtained in violation of a person’s constitutional rights. The exclusionary rule was established in the case of Weeks v. United States (1914) for federal application and was subsequently applied to the states in the 1961 case of Mapp v. Ohio.

You have been tasked with putting together a training presentation for a new class in the academy. The presentation will address the exclusionary rule, the impacts of the exclusionary rule, and exceptions to the exclusionary rule. In PowerPoint format, address the following:

The circumstances that gave rise to the creation of the exclusionary rule, citing the Weeks case.
The circumstances that gave rise to the extension of the exclusionary rule to the states, citing the Mapp case.
How public policy impacts the balancing of individual rights and societal needs in a Fourth Amendment interpretation.
How the courts have interpreted the exclusionary rule since its creation in your specific jurisdiction, using two court cases as examples.
How one possible exception to the exclusionary rule works, using the following scenario for analysis: You are a supervising police officer and one of your rookie patrol officers, Patrolman Mark, asks you a question about something that happened on his shift. Along with Officer Kennedy, Mark tells you he was executing a search warrant issued for 221B Elm Street. Unfortunately, they went to 212B Elm Street instead and entered the home of Ms. Cook, finding a stack of laptops that turned out to be stolen property. Cook thought she had been caught and did not complain about the search warrant issue. Mark says he is glad they caught Cook but does not want to get in trouble. Is Mark in trouble for the search?

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Educational Requirements 

A medical doctorate, master’s degree in public health administration plus at least one year of employment in health programs or services, master’s degree in another public health discipline plus at least three years of employment in health programs or health services, master’s degree in public administration plus at least two years of experience in health programs or health services, master’s degree in a field related to public health plus at least three years of experience in health programs or health services, or a bachelor’s degree in public health administration or public administration plus at least three years of experience in health programs or health services are the most common levels of education commensurate to the level of health administration post.

 

Leadership styles 

There are two styles of leadership recommended for healthcare directors. Transformational leadership shifts the leadership role from more traditional, transactional, autocratic approaches to one based on motivation, inspiration, and collective change. Transformational leaders use charisma, personality, and compassion to engage others in realizing a shared vision. In this leadership style, followers are inspired to go above and beyond and accomplish more than they had anticipated. Transformational leaders achieve such levels of motivation by fostering alignment between followers’ values and goals and those of the organization. Leaders must emphasize creating collaborative relationships built on empathy as opposed to hierarchical power structures. Within the health care setting, transformational leadership involves the process of visioning the desired outcome, analyzing present reality, and realizing the opportunities for improved health care delivery via cultural change within an organization. Effective leaders realize that only through collaboration can we achieve healthier communities(Perez, 2021).

 

Another leadership style Is Directing Leadership style which incorporates a high degree of focus on tasks and a low degree of focus on the employee/manager relationship. In this leadership style, managers dictate to employees what they must do and expect them to accomplish their tasks, leaving little room for autonomy. A directing leadership style can be useful for newer, more tentative employees or those who are afraid of having authority or autonomy. It also leaves less room for error in the interpretation of directives, making tasks unambiguous. However, overuse of a directing leadership style can cause employees to grow resentful or unmotivated and to feel replaceable or unappreciated(Daniel & Ugochuku, 2020).

 

Traits 

As directors, the following traits are essential for directorship where there are many departments in which the director is accountable. Directors are not responsible for the day-to-day operation but make provision for all the necessary resources required to do such. The long-range vision for future projects. Communication skills require proficiency in writing and speaking as well as mastery of PowerPoint presentations. Creative thinking and innovative ideas are traits that motivate. Director must be able to delegate without micromanaging and must hire the best to get the job done. Patience which is not the last of many, is needed for accomplishments will come but visions do not develop overnight.

The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.
