Final Paper Alternative —an Exhibition Project on the Arts of China The final assignment is a research paper 7-8-page-text in length, with 4-5 artworks as the core. If you choose the Exhibition Project, your job as curator of this visual exhibition is to choose a theme and four or five relevant works of art. Write a scholarly exhibition-catalog for your exhibition: This Exhibition Project is still a Research Paper (and NOT an “art appreciation”) A. A cover page (See the Template) (No page-number). B1. An (idea/theory/issue/question-oriented) introductory text — 3 to 4 pages B2. 4 (or 5) (artwork/object-orientated) entries. 1-page entry text for EACH work of art Your introduction could be a top-down macrocosmic overview of the theme of your exhibition, and your entries could be microcosmic bottom-up perspectives of the representative examples. C. A bibliography that consists of at least 3 or more scholarly books or articles, and D. The fully captioned figures/illustrations of the works of art in the exhibition project. Your writing should always contain an arguable thesis. Your introductory text should explain the scope, significance, and historical background of the exhibition’s theme. The entries’ texts should include the captions (artist, the title of the work, date, medium, size, & location) of the object, an analysis of its form & content, and explain its relationships to your theme.
