Descartes discovers that the one thing he knows for certain is that he exists, Cogito Ergo Sum.

From this, he concludes that God exists, since he has the idea of a perfect infinite God and that must have come from God since he was neither perfect nor infinite, then with God he goes on to say he can trust his mathematical intuition since a perfect God would not trick him to think 2+2=4, so 2+2 must really EQUAL 4.

What do you think about Descartes? Is the mind the best source of certainty? He is a lot like Plato here in that he does not think sensation is a very dependable source of knowledge. Another component of Descartes is that he argues that language is what transforms mere sensation (what you feel smooth cool) into Perception (I feel an apple). So if computers/robots could actually put feelings into words, then would they be thinking?would they be able to know that if they think then they know they must exist?  So here is the computer wife! what do you think about this robot wife?
