Human Trafficking and the U.S. Criminal Justice System’s Response
Session 5 Master’s Thesis Drawing from all of your past reading assignments, discussions, research, faculty input, and experience over the course of your Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) program at CCU, create a 30-35 page Master’s Thesis using the Research Plan developed in Sessions 1 and 2, and integrating the biblical perspective developed in Session 3. Format your Master’s Thesis according APA guidelines and include the following sections: Title Page: This page contains the paper title, author’s name, institutional affiliation, a running head, and a page number. Abstract: This is a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the paper, allowing the reader to survey the contents of the paper. (See the Editage Website for tips.) Introduction: This section begins the body of the paper that presents the specific problem under study and describes the research strategy. Literature Review: This is a thorough review of books, articles, and other sources relevant to your particular research problem and question. Your literature review must cite and reference 25-30 sources. Research Methodology: This section should thoroughly explain your research design and data collection procedures. It “should also detail the sampling procedures, the subjects and setting, ethical protections, operationalization of key variables, and the measuring instruments that were employed” (Hagan, 2014, p. 382). Analysis and Presentation of Findings: This section details the results of your research. Discussion and Conclusions: This section should address the following: Limitations: Describe and discuss any limitations to your research. This would include sample size, restrictions on research, and participants, to include ethical concerns. Application: Discuss how your research will impact the field of criminal justice. Application should consider all areas of the CRJ program, to include a biblical perspective, civic engagement, fiscal considerations, human resources, inter- and intra- agency coordination, organizational systems, change management, leadership, and legal/procedural considerations. Critical evaluation of the following key questions should be integrated into this section: How does your research expand an understanding of criminal laws and current issues in the United States criminal justice system? How does your research inform best practices in criminal justice functions and operation issues? What recommendations result from your research? How can strategic and ethical leadership be applied to your research findings to bring about improvements to public service and enhancements of public policy through authentic engagement with the public? Concluding Remarks: Identify additional questions that were exposed during your research. Summarize your recommendations for where we go from here. Last, consider your findings and their application from a biblical worldview. How can God’s word be integrated and applied to produce change? 8. References: Your 25-30 required references must be in APA format. All references included on the reference page must be cited within your Master’s Thesis. 9. Appendices: Include appendixes for detailed information that might be distracting in the main body of the paper: Data Collection Instrument (if applicable) Data: Tables, Charts, Graphs
