Of all the means of transportation, land transport, comprising of the use of vehicles – both private and commercial is common. However, a key advantage of commercial transportation over owning a personal vehicle is that it is less expensive and economical. Prior to this time, the companies offering these services have not been able to reach out to as many people as they would have desired especially remote locations. However, given the wide spread adoption of mobile devices (particularly smart phones), there is a pressing need to reach out to more customers and also better cater for existing ones. Some of the companies have already deployed mobile applications to better serve their customers. So, in order to maintain a competitive edge with the rest of the competitors, we have recognized the need for a mobile version of taxi booking service relating only to women. The aim of this paper therefore is to discuss the development of an Android based mobile app for Pink Taxi.

Project Objective       

This project aims to provide women the ease of booking their rides and travelling while having the driver which would be a woman as well. Women as are harassed all the time, so we came up with this project to rid them of this problem and provide them with a woman driver. This will tackle a specific niche within the transportation business, as in more women will be willing enough to travel while also providing women with jobs.

Project Scope

The app will be used only by women, as in the driver and the user booking their rides, both will be women. System will provide an interface to the customers and drivers to book their rides and manage their accounts. The user will be able to see which drivers are available for them to book and the drivers will be able to confirm and cancel their rides. Admin of system can add the records of users and drivers in the system. Admin can also manage the users of system i.e. deleting the users, change the credentials of users, track the issuance record of the user and generate the price for the distance that the user travelled after booking a ride using the app.
