MS Project Planning Practice Exercise #3 – Instructions
You will need:
- The Tutorial 3 Start Point Microsoft Project file
- The Biafore text – to look stuff up as you go along
- A pen to check off tasks as you complete them.
Instructions
First prepare your materials:
- Print these instructions, then open the StartPoint Microsoft Project file.
- Get a pen – you need to check off the instructions as you do them.
- Save the file, with the file name “Tutoria3_<your last name>” – this will be the file you turn in for this exercise.
Now, part A: focus on Microsoft Project, check off each item as you complete it: DEPENDENCIES
- Using the Precedence Diagram provided (see page 2), add all the dependencies between tasks in the plan
(note that WBS-IDs found in the start point file are used to identify tasks in the Precedence Diagram). - Save your file.
Now, part B: focus on Microsoft Project, check off each item as you complete it: RESOURCES
- Using the Resource List provided (see below), add all the resources to the project plan, including their costs.
- Save your file.
Now, part C: focus on Microsoft Project, check off each item as you complete it: CONNECTIONS
- Based on the resource requirements information provided in the Task List, assign resources to activities in the plan. Do not attempt to level your resources, simply assign all the plan tasks to appropriate resources.
- Save your file.
Now, part D: focus on Microsoft Project, check off each item as you complete it: THE CRITICAL PATH
- Use Microsoft Project to calculate and display the critical path for the project.
- Save your file and upload it to the online classroom using the uploader provided.
