Sue’s expertise at helping the company maximize its ability to generate a profit. Sue is well An accounting executive named Sue Block is in charge of the books for a leading Cleveland, Ohio corporation. The company has done quite well and part of their success has come from respected and appreciated in the company. She is paid a competitive professional wage and enjoys an upper-middle class lifestyle as a result. Generally, Sue enjoys her job very much and is glad to be a part of the company’s success. She has been on the job twenty years. Ten years ago, Sue realized how she could falsify the books leaving ten thousand dollars for her to do with what she pleases. She is particularly moved by the problem of domestic violence, and decides to provide the Domestic Violence Center of Cleveland with an anonymous donation of ten thousand dollars. This has now gone on for ten years in a row resulting in a total donation of one-hundred thousand dollars. As a direct result of these donations, the Domestic Violence Center has significantly increased its ability to assist those in need. It built an additional facility and hired more staff. A special tribute was given to the anonymous donor in their newsletter, and promises of future goods were made with continued contributions from this provider. The problem is that Sue is starting to question the ethical status of her actions. At first she was happy to provide immediate relief to the Center and knew that the company would never miss such a relatively small amount of money. But now she feels more torn. She knows you have taken Professor LiPuma’s Ethics course at Tri-C and decides to turn to you for help. She wants to know how G. E. Moore (ideal utilitarianism), Carol Gilligan (Care Ethics), and virtue ethicists would analyze the moral status of her actions. She also wants to know how each would advise her on what to do from this point forward. Provide the help Sue is seeking by analyzing her actions with respect to each of these philosophers.
