Please help me with these discussions and please type all answers.A. Plato and Reincarnation

 

Plato says that our soul wanted to enter our body. It did. Now, it struggles to leave our bodies. Why? 2. Plato says if the soul succeeds in leaving the body, it will return to its star. If not, it will sink lower and lower, moving from one body to another. What do you think this means? 3. Is #2 the same as reincarnation or purgatory or something like those concepts?

 

 

B. Plato and Religion

Plato says that reason should rule the will and the body. Plato downplays the body as something that “bogs down” the soul. 1. Some religions, however, have a unique focus on the body that seems to differ from Plato, and that the body does not “bog down” the soul. If the body was as “bad” as Plato says, then why do some religions differ from Plato’s philosophy in this respect, when they resemble Plato’s philosophy in other respects? Why?

 

C. Plato, Greek Philosophy and Religion

Plato formulated the idea of a great “sculptor” who formed the sensory world from the world of ideas. He also had other ideas about the soul, body, etc… Do you think Christianity drew some of its ideas about God, and how to think about spiritual matters, from Plato and other areas of early Greek philosophy?
