Sci: Anatomy

1. A common phrase used in biology is that “structure dictates function.” Write this in your own words, and using the example of sickle cell anemia, explain how a single mutation can affect the function of red blood cells. This question requires knowledge of biological molecules and DNA/RNA synthesis.

2. Explain why evolution is called a scientific theory, but intelligent design is not. In your answer, include what it is meant to be a scientific theory and give an example of another scientific theory that you have learned about in class. Are scientific theories fact? Why or why not?

5. Using the information you have learned in this course, especially in regards to your health claim assignment, describe 5 things that would convince you while reading a news article that a scientific study was conducted in a fashion that resulted in reliable and accurate results.
