The focus of your analysis is up to you as long as you fulfill the following requirements: Make it clear that you understand Stevenson’s main point(s). Identify and analyze Stevenson’s rhetorical devices; use the specific terms from your handout. Rhetorical appeals are different, but you may also reference them. Use multiple examples from the text. You must use at least two quotations, properly integrated into your analysis. Clearly identify and examine the purpose of the text. The author is coming from a specific perspective – is it an argument? Demonstrate that you understand Stevenson’s purpose for this particular text. Comment on the effectiveness of the rhetoric and purpose. Reflect on why he speaks the way he does and its impact on the viewer/listener.
