The assignment says:

“You are a lab assistant, involved in a top-secret virus research project, funded by the United States Government. You have learned that the project’s top scientist; a kind, brilliant (and you believe, naïve) older man has developed a virus so deadly that it promises to change warfare forever and that he intends to turn over his findings to the military for development as a biological weapon. You are convinced that if this virus were to ever get into the wrong hands it could wipe out the human race.

You have tried talking to him, but to no avail. You are considering setting the lab on fire – killing the scientist, destroying the virus, and burning up all the data – thus stopping this threat to the human race. You are certain that you will not be caught, and that nobody else (including yourself) could recreate the virus. You must act immediately, however, to set the fire or the opportunity will be lost.

What will you do, and how do you justify your decision?”

I am going to choose setting the lab on fire because that will protect millions and the damage is nothing compared to a deadly virus etc. etc. etc.

My question here is, what Philosophy Ethic Theory would fit with my answer?
