Survey of U.S. History I Section WF Fall 2020 CO Instructions: using MLA format, type a 2-4 page essay responding to the following prompt:   The Preamble is one of the most recognizable parts of the U.S. Constitution and announces its purpose. It reads: “We the People of the United States…do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”  Embedded in the Preamble are the specific goals of the document, which include: forming a “more perfect Union” (binding together thirteen states), establishing justice (legal equality for all), insuring domestic tranquility (peace at home), providing for the common defense (from foreign enemies), promoting the general welfare (the health and safety of its people), and securing the blessings of liberty (freedom) to the founding generation (1780s) and future generations. Pick TWO of the goals outlined above and provide a brief description of how the drafters of the Constitution attempted to meet them, drawing on the document itself (Articles 1-7 and the Bill of Rights). How successful do you think they were?  You MUST make use of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and at least two of the additional sources provided to you for this assignment.  At least one citation from each source is expected.
