may have you stressed, it is part of every day life. Each person deals with stress differently. One thing that can stress me out is just the every day duties. From getting the kids to baseball, getting to work, school, and helping my wife out can get very stressful from time to time. It is true when they say you need a village to raise a family. However, I try to take a deep breath and relax. I also try to just get what need to get done and focus on the agenda for the day. I try to use problem focused coping rather then emotional focused coping. Stress can impact our everyday lives. I believe eating a well balanced diet and drinking lots of water really helps.

3. Two agents of socialization that have influenced my childhood are family and school. Both my mom and dad’s sides of the family are quite different. My mother’s side showed me love, support, acceptance and even friendship amongst my cousins. I looked forward to holidays and celebrations, like I found refuge in those happy moments. My father’s side taught me about substance abuse issues and manipulation, and how not to treat people you love. Both sides gave me great perspective into how one’s lifestyle can be like night and day, depending on your choosing. School was my outlet to be who I really am. I loved participating in after school activities and seeing my friends. It also gave me an opportunity to seek guidance from those outside my family, like teachers and counselors. I can guarantee I picked up on many social norms from going to public school! Family is the most important thing to me and have a huge influence on my life today. I am still very close with my cousins, who are more like my friends, and we spend a lot of our free time together. I no longer rely on my parents but I am learning what I can from them every day. Being back in school has also given me another avenue to socialize and talk about subjects other than the weather. This sociology class in itself is shaping my perspective in so many areas of my life! I am grateful for the opportunity to go to school as a woman, as I know many are not so lucky.

4. Two agents of socialization that influenced me growing up were my family and my peers. Throughout my childhood most of my time was spent with my family or my friends. So I learned a lot about how to function in the world by watching my aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and there families interact with each other. My family agent influenced my values and beliefs a lot. Spending all the holidays, birthdays and most weekends with my family I learned to value the time spent with each other. It taught me to believe how a person treats you is how they really feel about you. Actions speak louder than words is what my family always said and it stuck with me. My peers or friends influenced how I viewed my family and parents. Watching my peers interact with their parents changed my attitude with my own parents. Mostly for the better, of course somedays it caused me to act up as a child but over all it helped me learn to respect and appreciate my parents and what they had done for me growing up.
