Your topic can be nearly anything, though to ethical evaluation it must be:

1)Your final topic must be related to afairly specificactionor decision (though it may bean example of a general, or hypothetical), so that the final project is a focused enough to be clearly describing a specific situation.

2)Theevent or decision that is your final focus needs to have atechnicalor engineering related component, you may focus on almost anything, but one element of the analysis will relate to engineering, ortechnology. This means it is often clearest if you select atype of decision/action, an industry,a company, a specific person, an eventor incident, which is directly relatedto technology, or atechnical or professional component.

3)You need todo researchto describe the case details, who, what, when, where why, in what ways, for what reasons? Research will needtodistinguish betweentheoreticaland evaluativeethical questions as opposed toansweringanyissues of fact. Issues of fact are questionswith answersthat can be determined based on external data,or recorded information. Thus a claim in your paper that relies on ameasurableor documentedclaim must have a researched source for theanswer included.
